Yes, Kathy and I were having too much fun....right before I posted this, Kathy said verbally EXACTLY what I had been thinking at that very moment. It was one of those "You had to be there" moments, but it was funny as hell that I was thinking it, and she said it. Too Funny

We left at the end of the third quarter....we were up something like 44-0, so why stay until the end, and get stuck in traffic? We had a good time. Yes, we sound like goofballs....because we are!

Hilarious!

One of the Oupatient Medical Records guys came dressed to work today as Richard Simmons....it was the funniest damn thing I've seen! He was working the part, too! Jogging down the halls, saying phrases that Richard Simmons says....it was hysterical!

I snapped a picture of him with my cell camera....classic!

Sound Clips

As a general rule, I am not one for background sound clips on websites or blogs. Granted, I do have a small soundclip on one of the pages of my 49er site, but as a general overall rule, I *DESPISE* any sort of sound clips when I open a site. It's bad enough when I'm home, and it's late at night....thus why I keep the volume to a minimum. I never know when I'm going to come across a damn background sound.

And ESPECIALLY when I'm browsing while at work (c'mon, you know you do it, too). Nothing like sending out a neon sign that someone is browsing during worktime!!!

One sound clip in particular that I find extremely distasteful, and VERY low on the supposed 'Conscience Meter' is on a blog that shall remain nameless...those of you following along can certainly figure out who THAT is. This particular person claims to have a conscience, feeling bad after posting derogatory things aimed at certain individuals, and one individual in particular. This person has now posted a picture of a horse, with the caption "Hello Wilbur" as her 'Pic Of The Week,' and now has a sound clip of the opening of the Mr Ed show as her background clip, QUITE LOUDLY might I add. *insert rolling eyes here*.

So much for the supposed conscience, eh? So much for wanting things to be done and over with..... better watch that nose, because it's growing longer than Pinocchio's.

What's Your Inner Dragon?

My inner dragon is the most interesting of all. Not only am I the Air Elemental dragon, but I am the fourth rarest type of dragon in the world. Given the chance, I'd spend my days just soaring through the clouds, and I'll only attack if provoked. Click the image to try the Inner Dragon Online Quiz for yourself.

On another note, I received my copy of the UK version of the 2-CD Best Of Def Leppard, and I am SO HAPPY that I ordered it!!!! I know that some of you out there aren't going to buy it, and are disappointed in this, instead of a cover album, but I am so FRIGGIN' HAPPY with the song selection, and the order! The liner notes are great, as well....for each song on the CD's, there are notes from the guys about the hows and whys for each song. I haven't read them all yet, but it's so interesting to read about how each song came about, and why they did it.

I happen to love having all of my favorite Lep songs compacted into two CD's. ESPECIALLY on disc 2....you go from listening to "NOW" from their last release, into "Rock Brigade" from On Through The Night! Talk about a span of years! I absolutely LOVE it, and I would hope that all Lep fans would at least give it a chance, and order the UK version. Hopefully a North American version is going to be released in 2005. IMNSHO, this is a MUST HAVE for every Lep fan!

Colors and Clouds

Here's a few pictures of some of the fall colors around here....along with some pictures I took last week with my cell phone of storm clouds that spawned a brief tornado up the road near Los Banos:

This is a view of one of the trees down the street from our house...this tree always turns the deepest red every year:

This is one of the trees in the parking lot at work, starting to turn:

Another parking lot tree near the main street:

The next three were from last week from my cell phone camera of another storm we had:

Monday

Is it Monday already?? I didn't do a damn thing this weekend.

I'll have to start taking my camera around with me, now that the trees are finally starting to get their colors. I love this time of year, seeing the beauty of the trees as they shed their summer leaves.

And damn, in three weeks, I'll be on vacation again....Thanksgiving! I'm not sure what will be in store. More than likely a family dinner with my brother and his wife. It was so hard last year since he's was in Afghanistan. But he's home, and it will be a much happier holiday this year.

Have a good Monday, all!

Def Leppard - Dec. 14, 2002, San Francisco

My one and only 'Lep-Trek' took place on the weekend of Dec. 14/15, 2002. This might be a boring tale for those who had more than one Lep-Trek, since it doesn't involve meeting the band, but take it for what it's worth. It's my Lep-Trek, and I had a helluva time!

Kathy, her husband Dean and I took off from Fresno at around 11 am on December 14 to drive from our hometown of Fresno to San Francisco, which is 3 hours away, to see Def Leppard that evening during the first leg of their "X" tour in the cozy confines of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. We were going to stay in Oakland for the night, because we were also picking up my dear friend, Bruce to accompany us to the concert as my date, and Bruce lives in Oakland.

We had some really heavy rains on Thursday and Friday in California. So we were a little worried about what the weather would be like on Saturday. It was raining a little during the morning, but when Dean and Kathy picked me up at my house, it wasn't raining...just overcast.

We headed out, and stopped in Modesto for some lunch at McD's, then headed toward the Bay Area. The sun had actually popped through the clouds during our trek up to Modesto, making for a pleasant drive. However, as we approached the city of Tracy, things started to change. This was what was behind us:

And this was what was in store ahead of us:

As we approached the Altamont Pass, rain started pelting the windows, making for a rather treacherous drive over the Pass. By the time we arrived in Oakland, water was coming down in buckets! We made it to the hotel where Kathy and Dean were staying, got them checked in at around 3 pm, then called Bruce to let him know we were on the way to his place. We arrived at his place, I dropped my bags, and went upstairs to change into concert attire, then we were off to a wonderful dinner at Quinn's Lighthouse, a restauarant situated inside a historic lighthouse on the Oakland Harbor.

We opted to go to the second level, which had more of a pub-feel to it with the peanut shells on the floor, and baskets of peanuts in the shell on the tables. We had a wonderful view of the harbor, and what is that I see??? A break in the clouds??!! It was 5:30, and by George, we were having some clearing in the storm!! So we had a lovely dinner, then we headed for the BART station to catch the BART over to San Francisco. That was my first time riding on BART, so it was interesting! When we found seats, Dean almost sat down in SOMETHING on the seat (let's just say it was pretty gross), so he opted to sit on the armrest of Kathy's seat.

The other passengers were an interesting mix of people....you had some who were dressed to the 9's, obviously heading to either a company Christmas party, or the opera. Then there were people like us, just dressed casually. Then you had your obvious bums. Quite an interesting study in Bay Area culture!

We arrived in San Francisco, and made our way to the venue. The doors were just about to open, so we got in line just in time for the line to start moving. This was a general admission show, so it was a free-for-all at the door. I bought a couple of T-shirts from hawkers outside for 10 bucks each. The band busses were parked right next to the curb along the side of the venue, so we got to pass right by them as the line progressed toward the door!!

We found some seats that were above the floor, overlooking a walkway. We were in the back of the auditorium, but facing the stage head-on. First up was Ricky Warwick. I looked over at Bruce during Ricky's set, and he was actually dozing off!!

Then after intermission, the strains of "Disintegrate" began, and I went nuts! We got the High-N-Dry set that night, and I couldn't be happier! The guys put on one hell of a show. Someone had made a sign that said "Phil Collen Is A Sexy Bitch", which was displayed on their amplifiers on stage! At one point during the show, Joe states that they could 'open a bra shop, everybody's taking their clothes off down in front here (bras were being thrown onstage), and smoking some very exotic things.' Well, Joe....it IS San Francisco!

Just when you though it was over with "Let's Get Rocked," we got a surprise third eoncore of "Wasted!" That sounded AWESOME!!! It was such a freakin' incredible show!!

I've received this little thought via email before, and I received it again from a friend this evening...for those who haven't received this "Thought For The Day" before:

There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.

Not Making The Same Mistake Twice

I'm not making the same mistake twice this time! The #2 Hard Rock Cafe Barbie just became available through Barbie Collectibles, so I placed my order this morning! I still want the #1, but I'll wait awhile to see if it becomes more affordable.

And it's raining again here today...we have a wind advisory, also. Possible gusts up to 40 mph. Thankfully, Rhonda, Angie, and Karen came through the tornadoes in Arkansas yesterday. There was a funnel cloud spotted up the road about 50 miles from here on Sunday. While we don't get the amount of tornadoes as the Midwest, it's not uncommon to see funnel clouds, and the occassional tornado out here. Stay safe, everyone!

Dollar Tree ROCKS!

I don't know if this store is a nationwide chain, but if you haven't checked out a DOLLAR TREE store yet, DO!!! I had never been inside one until our office moved to its current location last year. We have one in the strip mall across the street, so whenever we go over there for lunch at a couple of different places, we go in to see what they have. EVERYTHING is $1.00. I went nuts in there during Christmas last year, buying little ornaments, and Santa statues.

This week, I went over and found these ADORABLE Christmas bear statues, and another Santa:

Aren't they adorable???! Granted, they aren't as heavy as the statues you'd see in the department stores (for a HELL of alot more), but they suit me just fine! I can't wait to see what else they put out after Halloween!

Flu Shot Frenzy, And This-N-That

I went by the hospital today on the way to grocery shopping with the folks, and the line was frigging RIDICULOUS. People were parking along the perimeters of the parking lot, as well as along the street. And this was at 11:30 am. The flu shot clinic started at 8 am this morning. I had thought about going up there first thing, but decided against it.

And now there has been at least one death to accompany this mass frenzy. A 79 year old California woman died when she collapsed and struck her head, after seeking some shade from the heat while standing in line for over 5 HOURS. Several other elderly people in the state, including 2 people right here in Fresno, have been taken to local hospitals after collapsing while standing in line. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! I still stand by my previous statement that this reeks of conspiracy in the form of price gouging due to high demand. I am disgusted by this.

Kathy had mentioned in earlier comments that her doctor, and Heather's pediatrician said they had NO shortage of vaccines. Kathy's mom took Heather to the doctor on Friday to get her shot, and they TURNED HER AWAY! She's only 6 yrs old! Aren't kids in the high risk group???? It's a consipracy!!!!!!

On another subject.....I GOT A NEW CAMERA PHONE!!! My wireless provider, Cingular, has a special online for this particular phone. I saw the phone at the Cingular store earlier this week on my lunch hour, but it was $129.00, and the salesperson there told me to check their website, because the phone was available online through their website for $29.95!!!! It's a LG L1400, and it's so cool! The reception is SO CLEAR! I've been wanting a flip phone for awhile, but never really thought much about a camera phone, but I couldn't pass this one up!

Strange Dream!

I had the strangest dream last night. I had a dream about this guy who was a competitive skater at the same time that I was, here in California back in the late 70's. He was a World Class skater at the time, and boy was he a hottie! I'd catch glimpses of him at Regionals, and again later in the early 80's when he turned pro, and began teaching. I remember exchanging glances with him at a competition up in Sacramento at one of the roller rinks up there (he was teaching then, and had skaters competing).

I don't know why I had this dream about him! Maybe because the World Championships are coming here next month, and it's wishful thinking that maybe he'll come up for the competitions, given that he competed at the World Class level??

Some of you might remember him from the cheesy movie back in 1979, Roller Boogie, with Linda Blair. His name is Jim Bray....damn he was a hottie!!!

Can You Say CONSPIRACY??

Flu shot shortage my ass. In my not so humble opinion, this is just an attempt by the vaccine suppliers to make more money by claiming there is a serious shortage in flu vaccines, when in reality, they probably have a storeroom stocked to the hilt with ready to use vials of the vaccine. I find it hard to believe that there is such a shortage of vaccines! This is kind of like what merchants do on special holidays such as Valentines Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day and New Years Eve: "Hey, this is a day that everyone will want to do something special, so let's rape everyone in the ass and their wallets by raising our prices under the disguise of SPECIAL HOLIDAY!!"

This just smells like a conspiracy to me. Anyone else?

Well, the first morning (or should I say 2 hours) of training went OK yesterday. It was kind of hard to do any proper training, because Loomis Fargo took Monday off as a holiday, so there were no deposit reports to show him. I printed out the previous days' report to show what it looked like. Hopefully today there will be something to show on how to enter all of the deposit totals. I was glad, though, that we only did 2 hours yesterday....my throat was so raw by the time we were done.... I don't talk as much in a full day as I did in those 2 hours!

On another note....saw this kind cool sunset out of the computer room window last night:

'Weaknesses'

Steph posted about the Barbies and Beanies she's collected over the years, and as I scanned around my computer room after reading her post, I realized that I went through a long period of having a weakness for Barbies, Beanies and football cards during the 90's.

I have most of the Holiday Barbies beginning with the 1993 Holiday, but I missed the 1994 Holiday, and I'm kicking myself more than a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest over that one. I had it in my hands several times in stores back then, but because I didn't care for the dress (gold with white faux fur), I didn't buy it. Now, it's one of the more valuable ones since 1993.

And Beanies.....I went ito a frenzy for awhile! Buying every single Beanie that came out until Ty claimed they were stopping production on Beanies. Phhhtttt...right. Now, I have 3 Rubbermaid tubs full of various Beanies and Buddies. Now, I only buy the ones that catch my eye.

And NFL football cards......eeeesh....I've got boxes, and boxes, and boxes of cards. I don't even know the value of a majority of them. My most prized card is my Jerry Rice rookie card. Also Steve Young's USFL rookie card. If anyone has a player from the 90's that they might want a card of a favorite player from the 90's(as long as it's not a 49er...LOL...those are MINE), let me know and I'll search through my cards. But if it's holding a good value right now....eh, nope, I'll keep it.

Dentists....YUCK

Well, I took today off as a vacation day, and it will be spent in the dentists' office....twice. They couldn't schedule back to back appointments for the dentist, and for the hygenist for the cleaning.... so I see my dentist at 10 am for a general exam, then go back at 2:10 this afternoon for the cleaning. Oh joy....a mouth full of blood is just how I want to spend my day off. I always bleed when I get my teeth cleaned. *sigh*

And I'm sure the dentist is going to ask if I've made my appointment to have the wisdom teeth removed.....nope, I haven't. I don't know why I'm so nervous about it. I know I'll be knocked out, so I won't feel anything. I guess I'd better start thinking about making that appointment.

Read any good books lately? I know of one I *WON'T* be wasting my money on. For the price of this book, I can buy 3 Danielle Steele paperbacks and know that I'm reading something good.... not something full of hot air, "Woe Is Me" tales.

I Am *NOT* Happy

Our Assistant Manager asked me yesterday when I would be able to start training someone who has interest in being my backup for when I am on vacation, etc. This person is NOT someone I want to train, or have anything to do with my desk, quite frankly. He couldn't even do the deposit correctly when he was our Deposit Clerk. Now they want him to handle my desk during vacations??? Everyone thinks I'm being unfair, but I seriously do NOT want him to have anything to do with my job duties, except for entering the bankcards into the system....and even that is subject to question, considering the fact that he did NOT correct a data entry error he made a couple of years ago while doing deposit....he entered $15,000 in bankcards instead of $150.00 in bankcards for one of the clinic receptionists!

And all he received for doing this was, "Try to be more careful next time." This could have gotten someone FIRED, and it wouldn't have been him....it would have been the innocent receptionist who looked to be $15,000 short, but actually wasn't.

I kept a file of every mistake this man has made...I presented it to our manager, and NOTHING happened, except "Try to be more careful." BITE ME!

There is also the problem of a serious language barrier....trying to communicate to a 63-year old Laotian man is not very easy. Especially when he tires of hearing you talk, and says "Ya Ya ok ok....I understand." "Ya Ya....is ok". GRRRRRRR!!!! I would LOVE to tell him, "Just sit there, shut up, and LISTEN." I told our Assist. Mgr yesterday that I am not going to tolerate his attitude, and having him cut me off when trying to explain the process to him. She probably thinks I'm being irrational, too....but I truly dread training this man. Not to mention the first time he sucks his brains down the back of his throat while I'm training him.....he's going to hear it from me.

*sigh*
