Yep, Gas Is High

Just a week ago, I paid $2.39/gallon for regular unleaded gas....this week? Freakin' $2.52/gallon....I snapped a picture of one of the price signs of the Shell station that I sometimes stop at on the way to work:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Speaking of which....I need to gas up on the way to work tomorrow morning...jolly.

And since my new camera is so much smaller than my Olympus, I can just stick it in my purse and bring it along to work sometimes....I had it with me today, and this is a picture of the foothill that we often see when the smog isn't too bad...right now, it's a lovely shade of green from the new growth...give it a month and it will be ugly brown again:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

And last, but not least...for those who are new to my blog and haven't seen my dog Max, who I affectionately dub "Devil Dog":

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Max was born with a cleft palate, and upper lip deformity...more than likely due to his momma, Ginger receiving antibiotics early during her pregnancy. We just couldn't put him down, so the cleft palate was surgically repaired, but the lip remains 'deformed.' But that doesn't stop Max from being an ornery little shit. Most people wouldn't have raised a dog like this....but I love this guy with all of my heart, and I don't know what I would do without him. If he were a 'normal' dog, he would VERY EASILY be a champion.

Common Sense, Please

It would stand to reason that anyone with even a shred of common sense would know that if you have receipts for payments that add up to a certain amount, that they would go with that amount, right? BWAHAHAA....not when it comes to my alleged backup. This moron can't seem to figure that concept out....but oh, he has an accounting degree from his home country. Counting what....sticks???

I must have done some pretty rotten shit to people in my previous life to be cursed with this moron as my backup. *sigh*

On a side note....does anyone have an idea as to why on earth there were kids in the 8-10 age group with BLINKING PACIFIERS in their mouth at the skating rink last weekend? Is this some sort of new fad with kids? There must have been at least 10 kids with these things in their mouth! Were they deprived of their mothers' milk when they were growing? Now, I love anything that blinks, especially for concerts, but come on....a BLINKING PACIFIER??? What if they happened to fall face first with this thing in their mouth? I'd hate the see that dentist bill!

Speaking of blinking things....Kathy called me yesterday and said she found a blinking guitar pin for each of us to wear at the Lep concert. She found it at Walgreens of all places (Hi Karen!!!). Now I want to find something else 'blinkie' for the show to go along with this....but I haven't a clue about where to find anything like that....I'm wondering if Spencer Gifts would have 'blinkie' things? I might pull out my blinking Aerosmith magnet pin that I bought at the Aerosmith/Kiss concert in 2003, and wear that, too. Gotta stand out in the crowd, ya know? (As if my bling bling denim vest, and rhinestone cuff bracelet won't make me stand out enough). Damn, I'm getting excited about this show!!!

Back To Work Again

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday....ours was quiet. My brother and his wife came over for about an hour Sunday morning, then after that it was just Mom, Dad and I. It sucked that I couldn't really enjoy the dinner Mom/Dad fixed, because of my mouth. But I'm doing better....I haven't taken one pain pill.

Now, I'm back to work, and I see that I have another mess on my desk. So have a good Monday, everyone!

More Pictures

I'm slowly learning my way around the new camera....can I just say that I HATE READING INSTRUCTION MANUALS??!! I still have ALOT more to learn, but I can at least point and shoot....LOL! So here's a few more 'test shots'. The first two were taken on my way home Wednesday, so it was just a case of taking the picture, and hoping SOMETHING came out of it. The first is looking east toward the Sierras (along with the traffic), and the second is looking west to the afternoon sun breaking through the clouds. The last two were pictures of flowers in our front yard yesterday:

First Picture With New Camera

I did a test run with the new camera on my way home from work Wednesday afternoon... this is the result:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Not bad, eh? Ohhhhhh, yes.....I'm going to get some f-ing great shots at the concert!

I'm feeling ok today....some soreness, but nothing that warrants taking a pain pill. I should be just fine by Monday.

Well That Was Quick!

I'm already back from having my wisdom tooth removed....I was on the table maybe 2 minutes tops! I chose to do it under local anesthesia instead of general. And I'm glad I did. He had my tooth out in less that two minutes! I was shocked at how quick it was! No cutting, drills or anything!

Now I'm off to find something that I can drink....like a milkshake!

Not Looking Forward To Thursday

I'm NOT looking forward to Thursday....I'm having that wisdom tooth yanked out. I certainly wasn't expecting to have surgery scheduled so soon! I called for a consultation appt. this morning, and they went ahead and scheduled the procedure! YIKES!!!!! But, the tooth is finally starting to ache a little, so I'd better get it done....but I'm *NOT* going to have all of them ripped out! No friggin' way!

I am not looking forward to this............

Wipe The Damn Seat Off!

We're having to share the mens' restroom here at work, since the womens' restroom is closed for toilet repairs. The men had to share our restroom a couple of weeks ago while their restroom was being repaired for a water leak in the wall...and consequently the water leaked out of one of the womens' toilets.

What did I see this morning when I used the mens restroom? A nice, blatantly obvious skid mark on the back rim of the seat. Did the person who left this little present just happen to miss this lovely artwork when he/she flushed the toilet?? And now, that toilet is plugged up this afternoon....someone decided to use a half a roll of TP evidently.

And why can't the men LOCK the damn door? There's a paper sign on the outside of the door saying that it's a UNISEX bathroom. A lock was installed on the door last week for this very reason. But twice I've walked in to find a male in the bathroom. HELLOOOOOOOO???!!!! Do you not see the lock??? Apparently you HAVE gone blind with your previous 5-finger massages.

New Camera??

I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about buying a Sony Cyber-Shot 7.2 MP digital camera this week. I want something much smaller than my current camera, the Olympus Camedia C-4000 is just too bulky compared to the newer cameras hitting the market. Don't get me wrong, it takes great pictures, and it has served its purpose VERY well, and it will be a great backup camera. But with the higher MP coming out now, I would like to have a smaller, sleek camera with a higher MP. This Sony is priced comparable to some of the 5 MP's I've looked at, so why not just get 2 more MP for the same price? Plus, this camera takes movies with sound. My camera takes movies, but no sound.

I think I'll go look again at Circuit City tomorrow during my lunch hour, and buy one. Besides, I need a smaller camera for the Def Leppard concert in June!!!!!

Skating/HAIL!!

Skating went great today! No falls on my behalf! I was even able to do a basic Figure 1, which is simply skating around one circle on a forward outside edge, switch feet and do the same on the other circle. I looked down to see where my foot was, and by golly I was on the line! I wanted to do a simple 3-turn but I was too chicken....until we were standing by the wall during "The Corner Game." While we were waiting to skate again, I did a 3-turn! Suprised the hell outta me! Once I get more of my confidence back, I'll be able to do some of the simpler turns. But it made me realize just how much I miss the practicing, and competing!

Kathy decided she wanted to try Shawnie's blades....she did very well on them! Here's a picture of her right after she stepped out onto the floor:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Here's Kathy, Heather, Tara and Shawnie:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

And here's a picture of one of the smaller figures that I used to do....the loop figure....I hated 'em!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It was great fun today! The boots are feeling better, but I still need to adust the tension on the trucks....doing an inside edge on my right foot is a bitch! But it was $350.00 well spent! There's NOTHING like having your own skates.

And of course, Kathy and I kept saying OMG, OMG about our upcoming Def Leppard concert in June!!!!!!!!!!!

When we walked out of the rink, there were DARK clouds approaching....it had started raining during the night last night, and it started raining again when we left Carl's Jr. to head to the rink. But this is what we saw when we came out of the rink to go home:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

And it got more ominous as I drove home - this is looking north by the Save Mart Center on the Fresno State campus:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I'm just about home, and saw these clouds:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Huge drops started hitting my car as soon as I pulled into the driveway....by the time I got inside, we had some hail:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It was coming down in buckets! I haven't seen it rain that hard in a long time! After the storm passed, this is what it looked like across the street from our house....this is the view from our kitchen window:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

All that water in about 20 minutes! It was unreal.....and the thunder! I'm sure glad I wasn't driving in that storm! Luckily, we had decided to quit skating with about 10 minutes left in the session.

But it was a fun day, regardless....but I'm pooped!

Get Off The Damn Phone!

I'm about to take The Asshole's cell phone and shove it right up his ass this morning. He's been here at work since 8:30 - it's now 10:35 and he's been on that friggin' phone of his off and on since 9 am. Of course I can't understand a word he's saying, since he's talking in his native language (whatever that is for Laotians), and it's driving me f*cking bonkers! I was SO MUCH HAPPIER when I was working by myself in a little locked room with just my radio, and money to count. Money can't talk back to you, or make a sound. *sigh* It' probably doesn't help matters much that I'm also PMS'ing.

I hope everyone has a great weekend....more skating for Kathy and I tomorrow. And we're expecting some rain to screw up the weekend. But hey....we've got our tickets ordered for our Lep show!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! And Kathy....I received our Crue tickets, but you don't get yours until your birthday! LOL!

Just Because You're In Line........

............doesn't mean that you can place sandwich orders for people who arrive 5 minutes after you've been in line! I walked over to Port-Of-Subs at lunchtime for one of their wraps (they just put all of the sandwich fixings on a tortilla, thus a wrap....I'm not that much of a bread eater), and the line was rather long. We had been in line for about 5 minutes, and I was the next to place my order, when the woman in front of me requested TWO MORE subs for 2 guys that were late-comers. Geez, lady....tell your friends to be here ON TIME!!!!

That heartless, ball-less cowardly bastard Scott Peterson received the death penalty today - death by lethal injection. "You Still Look Tired"

That's what the Receptionists' Manager said to me in the hall yesterday. I told her that I had been sick with this crap that's going around, and she told me that I still look tired...I don't look like my usual 'perky' self. So I guess I need to get a little more rest......yeah right, like that's gonna happen around MY house! *sigh*

When I left for work on Monday morning, I realized that my car had become an allergy sufferer's nightmare. I didn't go anywhere this weekend, and as a result, my car was covered with pollen. Luckily, I don't suffer from allergies. But if someone who was an allergy sufferer happened to inhale next to my car, they might have needed me to call 911.

I was going to write about something else, and I've totally forgotten what it was!

But tickets for the Lep/BA show here in Fresburg go on sale TODAY!!!!!! After lunchtime, I am getting my ticket! WOOHOO!!!!

Hopefully I can get to work in one piece, as long as some old coot isn't trying to pave a path into my lane again.

The Day We Love To Hate/ and ASSHAT!!!!

Yes, it's the day we here in Fresno love, and hate at the same time. It's Kids Day, where volunteers stand out on street corners to sell special edition copies of the Fresno Bee for $1.00, with a portion of the proceeds going to Valley Childrens Hospital. While it is a totally worthy cause, the METHOD in which the papers are sold is questionable. There can be up to 15 people standing on one street corner hawking papers, some standing out in the street, and this morning I saw a little girl who couldn't have been more than 4 years old standing on a sidewalk near a very busy intersection holding a paper up! I also saw a couple of hawkers trying to make change at a turn signal, backing up traffic to turn! Why can't The Bee just put the special edition papers in all of the paper stands, instead of using this method?

And on another subject....I almost got sideswiped this morning by some old coot who wasn't paying attention to where he was going....he turned left onto the street I was on; I was in the far inside lane....he came across the first two lanes, and almost sideswiped me....he wasn't even looking! I laid on my horn, and he corrected himself back into the middle lane, but as I passed him, he's cussing ME out!!!! He got behind me and almost ran up my ass! I got into the turn lane to turn into the parking lot for work, and he's flipping ME off as he speeds by!!!! F*CKING ASSHOLE!!!!

And With The Warmth Comes......

...........ANTS!!!! I hate the friggin' bastards!! They must have come up from under the house through a small hole that was caused when we had our new front door installed in the fall. Some of the grout is chipped into a small hole, and there were ants in the front foyer!! I HATE THE BASTARDS!!! So I got my trusty ant spray, and did a number on that hole. We'll see if it worked tomorrow morning. GRRRRRRR!!!

And YES!!! There will be a presale on Lep tickets for the Fresno show starting this Wednesday at 1 pm....so as soon as I clock back in from my lunch hour at 1 pm Wed., I am getting my ticket! I asked the Materiel Services manager today if he was going, and he didn't know about it, and he got all excited....he said he loved Lep back in the 80's, so there is another ticket sold! I hope the thing sells out! The only station that plays Lep anymore is the classic station, 95.7 The Fox. They are running a commercial about the show, and they are going to give away tickets whenever they play a Lep/BA song back-to-back. I had a streak going during the 80's of winning concert tickets constantly from the rock station that used to be here. I even won backstage passes to Journey! And I won so many vinyl albums from that station....most of them I've never even played! But who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth?? LOL

And I'm feeling ALOT better today....I think I'm just about over this crap. Now Kathy said her mom has it...I hope Kathy and her family doesn't get it!!!

So Damned Tired

Nothing much to say today except.....I am SO damned tired today. Don't know why, but I just didn't want to move a muscle today....and I pretty much didn't.

Our warm temps took a holiday today it seems....we had high fog cover all day until about 4 pm...then sunshine. It was so warm during the late afternoon/evening yesterday that we turned on the swamp cooler for the first time this year. Quite early for that, but it was 80 degrees in the house, even with the windows open in the evening. I really hate summer....I really do.

I'm hoping that there will be a presale for Lep/BA tickets this week. The Fresno show hasn't been listed on Ticketbastard yet. It's not a dream, is it?? LOL!!

Exorcist, please.......

........to get this damned sickness OUT of my body already! Yesterday, my left tonsil was sore. That's just frickin' great....like I need another go-round of this shit. My sinuses haven't completely cleared up yet, so I've sounded like I have a head cold for two weeks now. Tomorrow starts into my 4th damn week of this crap. Thank you, Asshole. One of my mom's friends told her that some people have this up to 6 weeks. At least I'm not coughing up a lung like I was a couple of weeks ago. And thankfully, my throat isn't sore like it was last night. I'M SO SICK OF BEING SICK!!!

Unexpected Bonus

Happy Friday, and happy payday for me! And, we received a bonus....I think it was for patient satisfaction, or something. Who knows, who cares as long as there are extra $$$$$$ in my paycheck! HELLO, SOUVENIER STAND AT THE BA/LEP SHOW IN JUNE!!!!!

Kathy sent me an email, pointing out just how busy our 'social' year is going to be this year....2 concerts so far (Lep, and Crue in October), skating, Fresno State football games.....I think this is the busiest we've been since she's been married. LOL! But it's always great to spend quality time with your best friend. *smile*

I had wanted to take my car in to get the oil changed on my day off after Presidents Day, but since SOMEONE decided to spread his friggin' germs around before that, I was too sick to drag myself out of the house then....so I dropped it off yesterday on the way to work, and hoofed it back to work. Now that was a brisk little walk! Not to mention with the moisture in the air from the high fog doing a number on my hair. But the oil is changed, and the cooling system was flushed, so I should be good for awhile. My extended warranty runs out in August, so if anything is going to break down, it had better do it BEFORE then.

I am still in a state of shock about Lep coming here.....it must have been all of my FRESNO chants in various Lep online haunts. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd better look into getting another memory card for my digital camera, so I can be sure to take PLENTY of pictures I have been ordered to take from the Sav lovers. *G* I'll do my best to tear the focus of my lens away from Joe long enough to snap a picture or two of Sav, ladies. ;-)

Have a good weekend, everyone!

My "Curious" Subconscious

Found this Tickle test on Rhonda's blog....the infamous inkblot test. It's a long one....56 pages! This is what I came up with....you can take your own test here.

Kim, your subconscious mind is driven most by Curiosity
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
You are full of questions about life, people, and your own potential. You spend more time than others imagining the possibilities for your life — and you're open to things others are too afraid to consider. You have an almost physical need to know and do more. It's only through new experiences that you feel a greater understanding of yourself and the world. You also have a rebellious streak that shows up when you feel unable to truly influence the world or circumstances around you. Your appetite for novel experiences also shows an openness others don't have, but wish they did. Your psyche is very rich; the more you learn about it, the more you will understand who you really are.

Why Me???

Why do I have to be subjected to a daily, ALL FRICKIN' DAY dose of country music from The Asshole???? I can't even begin to express just how much I HATE country music. Yet, I have to continue to play 'volume wars' with this jerkoff, as he just has to blast the shit at various, frequent times during the work day, including turning the volume up when he leaves the office for any reason.

Right now, as I'm typing this, I'm blaring "You Dropped A Bomb On Me" by The Gap Band...LOL!!! I'm normally a very considerate co-worker when it comes to my music....I leave it only loud enough for me to hear.....but this asshole is the most inconsiderate, arrogant bastard I've come across in a long time. And HE wants 'respect?' Maybe if he'd shut the f**k up when I'm training him, I'd have alot more respect for him, and treat him in return with the same. But so far, he isn't earning ANY brownie points toward that goal.

Enough of that rant............I've mentioned the Lep/BA show to several people here at work, and they would like to go to the show! One of the local news channels did a real nice news piece on the show last night during the 6 o'clock news hour....it was mainly about how the show was a good thing for the stadium, and the downtown area, but they showed video clips of Lep and BA several times during the piece! So this thing may sell out! I can't wait!!!!!!!!! And we now have a party of 6 just going with us! Blossoms/Gardenias/Dew

Just a couple of pictures that I took this morning....and we're projected to be in the mid-70's/close to 80 degrees this week! I just hope this isn't an indication of a disgustingly hot summer this year.

I Did Ok.....

Well, I did ok for my first time out on the new skates. I had to do some adjustments to the trucks as they were tight as a drum, and I couldn't do an edge if my life depended on it. But I felt so.......I don't know..... kind of unstable? Afraid? Being out of skating for 24 years will do that to you! But I can see how much work I would have to do if I ever wanted to even think about competing again. Muscles would need to be re-established; a sense of security and confidence would have to be located again.

I think back on all of those turns I used to do....and today I could barely even do a simple forward edge figure! I know I could do it again....eventually. Right now, I feel like a baby learning to walk. I didn't fall, though!

And kids were skating out of control today. They were skating too fast, and skating in the wrong direction. Even Kathy said it felt 'wierd' today. Poor little Tara (Shawnie's daughter) fell and bumped her head good on the floor. Another girl fell in front of them, Shawnie tried to pull Tara to the side, but Tara tumbled over the girl and whacked the back of her head on the floor. Poor baby!!!!! I felt so sorry for her!

Heather did really good on her blades....better than on the regular roller skates.

Now I realize just how much I miss skating! Here's a birds' eye view of my skates on my feet, taken with my cell camera. And what is it with roller rinks and the tacky carpet?

Skating Saturday

Not much to talk about today, other than I'm going skating with Kathy, Shawnie and the girls this afternoon....it will be my first time trying out my skates! I tried them out for a few minutes when I picked them up a couple of weeks ago, but I was in the beginning stages of this damned sickness, so I didn't give them much of a chance. Today will be the first extended tryout....and hopefully I can stay upright!

Spring is quickly approaching here in Central California....we're supposed to be in the mid 70's all next week. Time to find some spring clothing!

Yak at y'all later!

WOOHOO!!!

I just bought tickets to go see Motley Crue here in Fresno on October 7th! Kathy and I are going to go....so she'll be celebrating her 16th wedding anniversary rocking out with me, while her hubby stays home....LOL! We've never seen Crue before, so we just had to go!

Now if we could just get the Def Leppard/Bryan Adams tour to make a Fresno stop............

On the 'sickness' front.....I'm feeling better each day, but now Mom is coming down with it. I'd love to strangle the Asshole right about now.

The "Mess" That Is Now Clean

I can actually see my desk again! I caught up the work that was left for me, dating back to Feb. 16th, this afternoon. I can finally breathe again. What you see here are document envelopes containing bankcards, and various other items for the weekend of Feb. 25-27th. I have to open every single envelope, remove the contents, add up the bankcards and enter the totals for each individual receptionist into the computer:

And here is the mess that is still on top of my file cabinets. I did receive my desperately needed boxes this afternoon, but I probably won't have time to start packing them up until later this week:

And to add on to the stress, I didn't receive the document envelopes from the hospital today. Just frickin' great....I know what I'll be doing in the morning.

I just about smacked the co-worker who does the ordering this afternoon. She is also a Union Shop Steward, and last Friday she gave me a survey from the Union to fill out. We're in the final year of our contract, so they send these stupid opinion surveys around every 4-5 years. Well, she asked me if I had filled it out yet this afternoon. I looked at her and said, "Did you see the work piled up on my desk???" She started babbling about how the Union wants 100% participation, and it will only take 5 minutes. I said, "Well, my work has been of more importance........." She said something about "Don't you want better wages, blah blah blah?" I said, "Whatever." She looked at me and said "Well that's a bad attitude." Yeah...ok...like I said.....WHATEVER! When they stop jacking up our union dues every time we get a raise, maybe then I'd have more sympathy for the Union. As it is, they're sucking $54.00 a month out of our checks......and for what??? I'll fill out the damned survey when I'm good and ready....if ever!

Work Is Irritating The Shit Out Of Me!

I'm getting so frigging frustrated with work. #1 on the list is The Asshole. Now he's turning his Media Player up LOUD whenever he leaves the office to go up front - obviously just to irritate me.

Next is the co-worker who orders our supplies. I've been BEGGING her to order boxes for the past two months, so I can pack up the old files from Jan/Feb of 2004 to ship to Livermore for storage. Now here it is March 1st, and I'm going to have to pull the March '04 files out now. So that will make 3 months of files sitting on top of my file cabinets just waiting to be packed up.

Let's not even talk about the mistakes my 'wonderful' backup person, The Asshole, made last week. Not to mention NOT breaking down the pharmacy reports and entering them. When I came back last Friday, I had stack of reports measuring a good foot in length, waiting on my desk, and 2 more days worth of reports still sitting on the printer. Yep, he's a WONDERFUL backup. I don't even dare ask him about the mistakes he made, because he will run to our manager, saying I'm not 'respecting' him. EAT SHIT, ASSHAT!

I took a picture of what my desk looked like when I left last night with my cell camera....I'll have to post it later this evening. I'll have to take a picture of my file cabinet, too. *sigh*
