Yep...I changed my blog template. I'm test driving this one to see how I like it. I thought it was quite adorable! I've looked, and looked, and looked....and I'm tired of looking - for now. I had to resize the Storm pictures to fit....I'll get around to resizing other pictures that I've posted later on....right now, I'm sick of looking at this! LOL
And I am getting a new pair of boots for my skates! I went over to the rink today, and they had a pair of NICE boots, that would cost $350.00 if I ordered them new. The rink had them in the display case for $197.00. I tried them on, and they felt great! They will have to call to see if my plates can be mounted, since the boot I'm getting is a size 7, and my old plates are a size 5. I suspect that I'll have to buy new plates, too.....something I didn't really want to do, but what the hell....my plates are 25 years old, so I think I deserve a new set of plates!

Man oh man! I got home just in time for some HELLA-COOL looking storm clouds over our house! I saw this particular batch of clouds on my way home....they were some funky looking clouds! Little fingers were coming down everywhere from these clouds! And of course, I just had to go outside to see them!
This is the beginning of a double rainbow forming:
Here's a couple of pictures that Kathy took from over at her house....you can see the second rainbow a little better in her picture:
There were also reports of marble-sized hail today in the downtown area. Wild weather we had today!

Thunder And Lightning!
We're getting our first "Thunder And Lightning" of the winter! I went outside of our office to see, and while the lightning isn't all that impressive, the thunder sounds like someone rolling bowling balls down the hall! I love thunder during the afternoon....it's when it happens at night that I don't like it.

Welcome to Friday....and PAYDAY for me! That's ALWAYS a good thing! Working on the Martin Luther King holiday put some extra $$$$ into my bank account! But next year, I'm taking the day off....it's not really worth it to just sit here all afternoon with nothing to do.
It's another wet, rainy day here. I was supposed to be in a meeting with the new Senior Clerk of our Emergency Room, and our two Reception Managers today, but that was rescheduled for Monday. Hopefully this new Senior Clerk will be able to get all of the ER receptionists on the same page for once.
And that damn bitch Aunt Flo is knocking on the door again. Blah!
Home life is still a freakin' roller coaster. Those of you 'in the know' already know what I'm referring to, so I won't get into it here. But nothing has changed....things go along good for a couple of days, then BAM! *sigh*
No skating tomorrow after all....we'll go next weekend instead....which is cool. My shoulder could use the extra week to get better, anyhow. I might take my skates over this weekend to see about getting some new boots. I refuse to use those damned rentals longer than necessary!
Have a good weekend, everyone!

What A Dumbass
What a pity this guy chickened out on his suicidal thoughts....instead 10 other innocent people are dead, and this blithering idiot is still here. But he will be charged with homicide. Maybe someone in prison will accomplish the task the guy was too chicken-shit to carry out.

PLEASE Speak English!!!
I am totally amazed at the 'internet grammar' that I'm seeing in various places, especially while browsing for a new blog template at Blogskins. Has anyone ever taken the time to read some of the comments people make on various skins? GOOD LORD! Now, I know that probably 99% of these people (or should I say 'ppl') are not even 15 years old, so that probably contributes to the verbage. But DAMN 'ppl'! String a coherent sentence together for once! Let's look at a few examples, shall we? I won't give the poster's name, but I will post the comments as they appear on Blogskins:
*yeah.i finally found a skin for my blog thanx to u! KEEP MAKING dis kaind of skin and can u add da song one last by taufik(u may not like him) to da skin ....or other songs...
Interpreted to say": Yeah. I finally found a skin for my blog thanks to you! Keep making this kind of skin and can u add the song "One Last" by Taufik (you may not like him) to the skin... or other songs?
*wow!! its REAALLY nice!! haha gd job!! u sure dis is ur first??.. haha .. JAY RAWKS!
Meaning: "Wow! It's really nice! Haha, good job! You sure this is your first? Haha...JAY ROCKS!
*sPeeChleSs aLl i cAn sAe iSh
I think this one is saying: "Speechless, all I can say is".
*tis is really cute. lurve e music! it's hiro's treasure rite? hehe. keep it up!
Meant to say: "This is really cute. Love the music! It's Hiro's Treasure, right? Hehe. Keep it up!"
*dis is so nice.. i juz wish dat those 3 pics on the left dat be replaced wif my own pics. but aniwae, i'm using dis layout!! rawk on!
Translated to read: "This is so nice...I just wish that those 3 pics on the left that be replaced with my own pics. But anyway, I'm using this layout! Rock on!
And don't even get me started on those who HaVe To TyPe ThEiR wOrDs LiKe ThIs. GAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I shudder at the thought of these 'ppl' possibly running a major country one day.

Staff Meeting *YAWN*
Well, is there anything more sleep-inducing than a staff meeting? It got to the point to where one of my co-workers and I were counting how many times our manager ended her sentences with "and everything." Last count we were up to 40. This is in the span of one hour, folks.
But hey....I received two blue tokens, which we can redeem for gift certificates to various establishments. One token was from our manager for a "job well done" in staying current with my desk (everyone got one, actually), and one was from another co-worker for helping her get her deposit procedures straightened out. So hello Sweet Tomatoes gift certificates!

Insert Witty Title Here
I had to wait until I got to work to post....my damn DSL wouldn't connect last night, or this morning. It was working fine before we left the house yesterday. But it gave me a reason to get up off my ass and exercise this morning. I'll be glad when my shoulder is completely better so I can start doing COMPLETE exercise, instead of doing half-assed arm movements.
We got out of the house for a few hours yesterday and went up to Table Mountain. I hit $83.00 on Jackpot Party. I went to the bonus round a couple of times, and hit some good amounts. It was good to get out of the house for awhile....Mom enjoyed it too.
But I couldn't get my Monday morning Starbucks today. The Starbucks I go to was closed until 10AM due to their water being shut off because of road construction. They've been working on this damn road since Thanksgiving! I've never seen a city that did road work slower than this city.
The Falcons lost, the Steelers lost, and Johnny Carson died. Sunday sucked for alot of people, for sure.

You Call That Music???
So I'm listening to my Launch player at work.... playing a mix of music ranging from Full Devil Jacket to (don't laugh...but I *LIKE* his voice) Nick Lachey, with alot of Def Leppard, Slaughter, Dokken, etc. in between (and a little Patsy Cline, too). I'm hearing some bands that I've heard mentioned before, like Lacuna Coil (LIKE them!), and I'm also hearing this 'music' that sounds like the 'singer' is either taking a painful dump, or had his willy stuck in the blade of a Cuisinart.
What is with the primal screaming of the lyrics with some of these bands?? The music itself doesn't sound half bad, but once the lead 'singer' starts in with the growling screams to 'sing', I know that I have this look on my face like I just ate a lemon. No wonder the kids of today are going insane....look at the 'music' they're listening to.

....I wonder if I would be making too much of a spectacle of myself if I got these leopard print boots for my skates:
I saw those very boots at one of the display booths when the World Championships were here in town back in November....and let me tell you, they look COOL AS HELL!! I would DEFinitely get those....except this particular brand of boot is expensive as hell. So, I guess I'll just stick with the plain old white boots for now. But doesn't that boot look cool??? Maybe a rhinestone here or there? (No comments from the E*V*I*L peanut gallery, Karrie). *VBG*
My shoulder is feeling a little better with each passing day....more range of motion. So by the 29th I should be ready to see what other damage I can do to other body parts on the skating floor again. LOL! See what you all have to look forward to? Me talking incessantly about skating! It was my passion, and I can talk non-stop about it. *grin*

Well, That Was A Productive Day....
NOT!!! I should have just taken the day off yesterday. I didn't receive any of my work from the hospital, because the staging area where the chart room couriers pick up charts and other miscellaneous items, was closed. So, I spent the whole afternoon after lunch playing Jungle Gin on Pogo.com. At least that was productive.
So that means that I will have 4 days worth of work to open today. Just freakin' jolly.
I've developed a real nice bruise on my left thigh from my skating mishap on Saturday:
Actually, it doesn't hurt as bad as it looks. My shoulder hurts a hell of alot worse than that...and I don't have one bruise on my shoulder. Go figure.
The 49ers have hired a new head coach: Mike Nolan, who is the son of former 49ers head coach Dick Nolan. Hopefully, he can breathe some life back into my beloved team, and bring them out of the cellar, back to the top where they BELONG!
Off to attempt to get ready for work......

No Holiday For Me Today
Yes, I elected to work today. For those outside the US, today is a recognized holiday, honoring Martin Luther King. Alot of people will get today off for an extended 3-day weekend, but I opted to work, because I will get time and a half today. Had I not used my MLK float holiday at Christmas, I could have gotten double time today. Maybe I'll do that next year. Lord knows I have enough vacation days to use....and the extra $$$$$$ is always a good thing!
My left shoulder is still hurting like a boil....it's not so bad when I lift my arm to the side, but the pain really hits me when I try to lift straight up, or in front of me. Trying to clip my hair back into the hair clip yesterday was a sonofabitch! It's gonna be interesting trying to put my hot rollers in this morning. NO MORE HOLDING OF HANDS WHEN WE GO SKATING!! LOL!
If you have today off, have a good one!

That Was FUN.....
.....but sonofabitch does my shoulder and hip hurt!!! I was holding Heather's hand while we were out on the skating floor, and she had been doing pretty good, but she took this one tumble, and I couldn't catch myself and it was E*V*I*L GO BOOM!!! (See Karrie...I told ya!) I fell on my left hip, and I think I must have tried to catch myself with my left hand, and OMG!!! My shoulder felt like it was out of socket! I moved it, and it felt like it snapped back, but holy bejeezus it hurts when I try to lift my left arm up and forward! So I told Heather that I wasn't holding her hand anymore! LOL! I was surprised at how many people were skating. About half were on blades, and the other half on quads. I'll stick to the quads, thank you very much. But I felt like such a spaz when I first started out....all those years of training and skating have gone out the window for sure! Time to build those muscles back up in my legs and ankles! Yep....I do miss skating.
But we all had a great time, and we would like to have a once or twice a month outing for skating. SO....that means I'm going to have to look into buying some new boots for my skate. I *REFUSE* to use those rentals! Hell, they look like they're the same rentals they had when I was skating there back in the early 80's! I can buy a pair of Reidell boots for about $200, which would suit my needs just fine. I saw the price of the boots I have now, and they're $485! If I were competing again, that's what I would get....but for just recreational skating? Nah....
Here's a few pics of Heather and Kathy at the rink:
Kathy, getting ready to put her skates on:
Heather, when she first stepped out onto the floor:
Kathy and Heather skating together:
See the digital camera in Kathy's hand? That is her mom's camera, and Kathy said while we were rolling around that she didn't want anything to happen to the camera.....not long after I took this, Kathy was trying to turn around from rolling backwards and fell right on her elbow of the arm holding the camera....but by God she saved the camera! LOL!
I was surprised at how many people were skating. About half were on blades, and the other half on quads. I'll stick to the quads, thank you very much. But I felt like such a spaz when I first started out....all those years of training and skating have gone out the window for sure! Time to build those muscles back up in my legs and ankles! Nope, Can't Wear These Anymore...Dammit!
Well, hell......I just tried to put my old roller skates on, and I can't even get my foot halfway down into the skate anymore. I didn't think my feet had grown THAT much since I was 23! But, I guess they have. So, I'll have to wear a pair of crappy rental skates today when I meet Kathy and Heather at the rink.
Here's what my skates look like...anyone who has been around skating even for a little while back in the 70's and 80's will recognize these: Waldeck Silver Flip wheels, Snyder plate, and Reidell Gold Star boots....altogether valued at about $800 smackaroos back then:
Damn it....I wanted to take these out for a spin to see what they could still do! I may look into getting just a new pair of boots eventually, just for the hell of it.

Can someone, maybe one of the men lurking out there, explain to me why they love to post pictures of themselves in skimpy bathing suits, or shorts, or just jeans for the sole purpose of showing off their physique? And yes, I do realize that alot of women post pictures of themselves in skimpy clothing.... but what happened to leaving things to the imagination here??? I just find it amusing that people do this sort of thing to attract a date.
I sometimes browse through the online personal ads, just for shits and giggles, and it cracks me up how many guys post pictures of their bods. Now, don't get me wrong, I sure like looking at the pictures, but it sends a signal to me that they are egotistical bastards. Egotism is one thing I *DESPISE* in a man, or anyone for that matter. If I see a guy who thinks he's the greatest thing since sliced bread hitting on anything wearing a skirt, I will do my best to shoot that ego to the ground if he approaches me.

Don't you just hate it when you tape a TV show you really wanted to watch, only to have the tape run out before the end of the show??? That's what happened to me when I taped the new episode of "ER" last night. I was watching it this morning before work, and the tape ran out before I ever found out what happened to Abby!!!! Yeah, I'm a dipshit for not checking how much of the tape was left BEFORE I programmed the VCR....so if anyone watched the show, please tell me how it ended!!!

Time For A Change
Yep....I'm on the lookout for a new blog template. As much as I love the templates that Lors did for us, I like to change things up every so often. What I'd LOVE to find is one with a cosmic/moon/stars type look to it. Not much luck so far....but I'll find something soon.
There was a freakin' GORGEOUS sunrise this morning....and me without my camera. GRRRRR! The sky was beautiful shade of reds over the Sierras. I took a picture with my cell phone, but it's not even worthy of posting.
So I'm going to get back on my roller skates on Saturday for the first time in over 20 years....I'm meeting Kathy and Heather over at my old rink, and roll around for about an hour. I need to dig my skates out of the closet...hell, they probably don't even fit anymore! And I hate rentals....but maybe they are better than they used to be back in the 70's. But it should be a fun time!
Here's another quiz, this time from KC's blog:
You Are a Visionary Soul
You are a curious person, always in a state of awareness.
Connected to all things spiritual, you are very connect to your soul.
You are wise and bright: able to reason and be reasonable.
Occasionally, you get quite depressed and have dark feelings.
You have great vision and can be very insightful.
In fact, you are often profound in a way that surprises yourself.
Visionary souls like you can be the best type of friend.
You are intuitive, understanding, sympathetic, and a good healer.
Souls you are most compatible with: Old Soul and Peacemaker Soul
Have a good one!

There's rumor that there will be a foreign object in the sky starting tomorrow...at least for us Californians. There is rumor of a bright yellow ball making an appearance in the sky on Wednesday. Don't be alarmed...it won't hurt you, and it won't spray water on you, like those gray things have been doing.
LOL!!! Lord knows we need some clear skies now, to help dry most of the state out! I'm kind of worried about a friend of mine who lives down in So. Cal. I emailed him on Monday to see how he was holding up with the storms, and I haven't heard back yet. I tried to call him at his work, and only got his voice mail. I'll try again tomorrow.
I snapped this picture with my cell phone as I was leaving for work this morning...it's a crappy picture. The cloud had some cool streaks going upward, but they don't show on this picture.

My manager comes to me this morning and says she wants to talk to me for a couple of minutes in her office. She calls one of my co-workers in who is a Union Shop Steward. Great...what the hell did I do? She said that Felix, the 63 year old Laotian who is my backup during my vacations, felt that I wasn't treating him with 'respect' last week when I approached him about a couple of mistakes he did.
I told her that if he would LISTEN while train him, instead of cutting me off with his patent "Yah yah, I understand", maybe he wouldn't be making the mistakes he made! I told her that I saw him take notes during our training, and the one mistake I approached him about was one I told him about REPEATEDLY during our training. Yet when I'm gone, he forgets what I told him, and that he wrote it down in his notes.
I said I didn't feel that he treated me with respect when he continually cuts me off when I'm explaining something, and that when he does that it PISSES ME OFF! So she was going to call him in after we talked, and talk to him about it. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with him as a backup. And she wants him to be able to eventually do batch for all 4 facilities. Great....Fresno is the largest, and it's the most difficult. Oy vey...........

What Planet Are You? And GO AWAY RAIN!
Found this one on Kate's blog...this is SO me:
You Are From the Moon
You can vibe with the steady rhythms of the Moon.
You're in touch with your emotions and intuition.
You possess a great, unmatched imagination - and an infinite memory.
Ultra-sensitive, you feel at home anywhere (or with anyone).
A total healer, you light the way in the dark for many.
I'm so sick of this damned rain! There were reports of the winds we had on Friday being hurricane force! I can believe it! There were many trees down all over the city, and about 77,000 homes/businesses lost their power for an extended time. Luckily, our power came back on at our house after a couple of hours. I think we've had ENOUGH of this Pineapple Express dragging these storms in! But, the lakes and resevoirs should be at capacity for the summer, so it's all good. But we've had ENOUGH for now....give us a break already!
Have a good Monday, all!

What Kind Of Intelligence Do You Have?
Snagged this off KC's blog, who found it on Rhonda's blog.....I'd say this fits me quite accurately:
Your Dominant Intelligence is Linguistic Intelligence
You are excellent with words and language. You explain yourself well.
An elegant speaker, you can converse well with anyone on the fly.
You are also good at remembering information and convicing someone of your point of view.
A master of creative phrasing and unique words, you enjoy expanding your vocabulary.
You would make a fantastic poet, journalist, writer, teacher, lawyer, politician, or translator.

DAMN IT'S WINDY!
Holy shit it's windy out there! I just came back from lunch, and the winds are probably gusting a good 30 mph. I ran to Target to get a couple of things, and while I'm in there, the lights go out! Talk about scary! Everyone just stopped where they were, and started laughing. Their backup generator kicked in, and there were some lights. The stop signals were out, too...so that was fun trying to navigate during noon traffic.
This is one nasty storm!

Another Soggy Day
Yes....it's raining buckets once again in Central California. But, I'd rather have the rain than some of the ice and snow that my buddies in other parts of the US are having. Stay warm and be careful out there!
I really need to get some shoes....I'm still wearing my Easy Spirit open toe sandals, but hey...THEY'RE COMFORTABLE!!! But I do need to find a new pair of shoes for these rainy days....but shoes are like underwear...they are very low on my priority list....if THAT tells you anything. LOL!!
And something is brewing in the romance department...maybe?? My old friend that I spoke of awhile back...flirtations have been flying through email, and perhaps soon there will be reacquaintance face-to-face. It's funny, we had crushes on each other back in the day but never acted on those crushes. We just remained friends who parked next to each other at City College. We lost touch through the years, but we would run into one another periodically in town. He saw my picture online, emailed me about a month ago, and I have a feeling that meeting up again is going to happen in the near future. If nothing else, it will be good to see him again. Kathy, did I tell you about this when we were out shopping...I can't remember! LOL! So....stay tuned............
Happy Friday everyone!

So, I get back to work yesterday for the first time since Dec. 22. Not too much of a mess...it could have been MUCH worse. Until, I started going through the work that my 'wonderful' back-up did while I was gone. Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes. THIS is why I don't like him being my back-up. He does a crummy job, and when I approach him to ask why he did something and when I try to explain the correct way, all I get in response is: "Yah yah, is ok for next time". NO, YOU MORON, IT'S NOT OK!!
I try to explain what he did wrong, and he starts to talk over me. WRONG MOVE, A-HOLE!!! That must be an Aries thing....he's an Aries, and there are several other Aries in the office that do the exact same thing....they try to talk over you when you're talking...almost as if to say, "I don't have time to listen to your whole conversation." BITE ME!!!
So, I think I'm going to suggest to our Assistant Manager that we need to have a small inservice training for those who cover my desk. Instead of telling one person one thing, and another person something else....I'd rather have those people present at the same time, to hear the same thing.

"Look Ma, I'm On TV!"
Evidently, I was on TV the day after Christmas, and I didn't even know it! One of my co-workers told me today that she saw me on TV....I was like, "Huh?" She said the day after Christmas, she saw me on the 10 O'Clock news on our Fox affiliate. She said I was looking at boxes, comparing them, setting some back on the shelf. As she's telling me this, I'm thinking WTF? I asked her if it was Christmas decorations, because Kathy and I were looking at the Holiday Trim sale at a couple of stores, and she said it looked like Christmas card boxes.
I did buy some boxed cards at one of the department stores, so that's probably where it was. Hell, I didn't even see a TV camera! I guess I was so in tune with the cards that I didn't see anything else. LOL!!!!

The puppies are doing great! They are walking, and recognizing us when we come into the room. The little boy is a little more reserved than the little girl, who we have named Mandy since we are keeping her. Mandy just loves attention!
Here's the little boy, playing with his stuffed toy:
Here's Mandy....I zoomed in a little too close, so it's not the greatest picture:

Well, I'm glad that night is done and over with. I went out onto the patio at 11:55, and people were already getting a jump on their celebrating. Don't the idjits know that what goes up must come down?? Those morons would feel real brilliant if one of those bullets came flying back right into their head.
But onward and upward into 2005. I hope everyone has a blessed year, and I'm so very thankful for all of my online 'family!' And hopefully, there will be a Def Leppard concert or two thrown into the mix this year! Kathy.....if there are any Bay Area or Sacramento dates....can you say ROAD TRIP??!!!!
