SLEEPY!!!

I've been awake since 1:30 this morning....we had to move one of the older female dogs, Ginger, inside because we suspect she hurt her back. Well, Jill (one of our youngest pups - 1 yr old) started barking because Ginger was evidently making some noises. So I got up to quiet Jill down, went back to bed, and she started in again.

I finally put Jill outside with the other dogs at 2 am, but she continued to bark almost every 20 minutes. I'd open my bedroom window to tell her to hush, and just when I started to drift back to sleep....there she'd go again. GRRRRRRRRR!

So needless to say, I'm a bit cranky this morning, and can't wait until this day is over. But at least I didn't spill my coffee all over me. LOL

Good Thing I'm Wearing Black Today

What a way to start off the work day....I stopped to get my Starbucks, and the order was right for the second time in a row. Got to work, put on my Usher CD, pulled up the 'Net, started reading the blogs I hadn't read this morning, and what happens?? I turn to grab my Starbucks, it tips over....all over my black pants, desk and floor mat. Needless to say I uttered some choice words, and went through about half of the paper towels in the restroom. Now I smell like a cup of Starbucks. Damn..........

I sure hope this isn't an indicator of how the day is going to be.............BLEH!

"Ghost" Gets Me...Again

I can't even count how many times I've watched the movie "Ghost", and it gets me every damned time in the end! Sobbing

The ending always makes me sob like a big baby....so why do I torture myself and watch it every time?? I just love the movie! Even though I know I'm going to start bawling the minute the spirits come down to take Sam....

And just call me a huge sap right now....I *STILL* cry during "The Wizard Of Oz." When Dorothy is in the Wicked Witch's castle, and Auntie Em's image comes up on the crystal ball; when Dorothy is saying goodbye to the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion, and when she says "Oh Auntie Em...there's no place like home!"

So what movies get YOU every time?? C'mon now...don't be shy...I just bared my soul!!

Can't You Be More Original Than That???

Man, I tell you....the lines that men throw out there to women are just too funny. Now, the younger female population may think a guy is being SOOOOOOO sincere with some of the lines they come up with, but with age comes wisdom and experience in how to smell a player.

I just had someone send me a message that said "Oh my God...YOU are the woman I've been looking for...let me spoil you...it will be like Valentines' Day EVERY day."

*rolls eyes* Hand me a barf bag, someone. The funny thing is...this guy has sent me this exact same message before...a couple of months ago. Talk about your generic, pre-fabricated line.

GUYS!!! USE SOME ORIGINALITY, please!!! These lines may work on women 10-20 years younger, but not on a woman staring down the barrel of 45! What happened to the real, honest, sincere men? They're probably either married, old, or gay (NO OFFENSE, MICHAEL!!!).

Maybe I'm just too jaded..........*sigh*

But at least my Starbucks order was RIGHT today...woohoo!

Gotta get to work....Have a good one!

Anonymous Comments

There seems to be an increase in comments in several blogs in the Lep Community by the name of "Anonymous." Ever since the recent posts on Dr. Rock's blog about certain members of the Lep community, there are those who wish voice their opinions but under an 'Anonymous' mask.

If we as bloggers are placing our thoughts, feelings, and lives with the public, then you should be courageous enough to put your name on your comment. Otherwise, your comments are taken at face value...and as "Anonymous", face value means NOTHING to me. All it means is that you are too much of a coward to let the blogger know who you are. Yes, A COWARD.

Most people who clear out their cookies periodically will show as "anonymous", but 99.9% of those will come back and say the above comment was theirs. If you are going to leave comments in my blog, at least show enough respect to put your name to your comment. Otherwise, your comments WILL be deleted from this point on.

Just Say No To "The Hand," Joe!!!

I think it's safe to say that a good majority of the female fan base of Def Leppard won't shed a tear if we NEVER see 'The Hand' shirt on the body of Joe Elliott EVER again! I never thought I could hate one article of clothing as much as I do that damned Hand shirt!!! Just walk away from it, Joe!!

Mom seems to be feeling better today....thanks to all for their well wishes and concerns! It is greatly appreciated. :-)

Yep, I'm still tired....I am just mentally, physically and emotionally drained at this point. For once, I'm looking forward to having a week off after the 4th. LOTS of things I need to do for sure this time, and some time for enjoyment also....shopping again with Kathy (woohoo!!), and going to watch the skating....that will be fun. Maybe Mom will feel up to some gambling, too....I put $100.00 in her birthday card last week, and gave dad $100.00 in his Fathers Day card....so I know they will be itching to put those bills into a slot machine...LOL!

Time to get to work...have a good one!

I'm Tired, Too

Michael makes mention of feeling drained and tired in his blog, and I'm feeling the same way today. I guess it's noticeable, because one of my co-workers asked if something was wrong this morning.

Maybe it's just all of the emotions of the past weekend with Mom's arthritis/heart spells. I thought I'd been sleeping pretty good at night, but evidently not well enough....even with my Tylenol PM.

Plus it didn't help matters much that my Starbucks order was screwed up YET AGAIN this morning. Another damned Mocha, instead of White Chocolate Mocha. *sigh*

And I also feel VERY bad, because I didn't have enough time to help out Terri this morning with her blog....so Terri, if you still need help this evening, I'll try my damndest to help you out!!!

It's Almost Regionals Time

I received an email from an old skating friend (Wendy) this morning, informing me that our former skating teacher would be competing in the Southwest Pacific Regional Roller Skating Championships in Ladies Figures on July 6th. The last time I competed in Regionals was in 1983 in Junior Ladies Figures.

You're probably wondering what I mean by "Figures." Well, when you go to the roller rink, you've probably noticed sets of three circles painted in different areas on the floor, whether it be a plastic floor, or the old wooden floors. We had to trace each circle with either or left or right skate. Once around on one foot, then change to the other foot at the interchange to trace the next circle with our other skate. Ideally, you want to 'split' the line, meaning the line painted on the floor is always in the center of your skate wheels. We had to do specific turns in designated spots on the circles. Any deviations off the line, or any turns not done correctly were a deduction in your score. Not as glamorous as doing jumps or spins, but just as tedidious, and nerve-wracking.

So it will be fun to go watch the skating again. Re-live some of the glory years, and hopefully see some of my old friends again. And HOLY COW!!! I was browsing the website of one of the skating boot makers, Harlick, and they actually have boots in the leopard print!!! Now, if I were still skating, you'd better believe I'd buy some of these!!!

This was me at the National Championships in 1981:

Our IT Dept. Is Run By Trained Monkeys

I can't believe how STUPID our IT department is...well, actually I *CAN* believe it. I'm told that our local server went down this morning, and now I can't access the programs I need! So I've basically been twiddling my thumbs today. Now THAT'S productivity!

And we were late 7 minutes coming back to work from lunch...we would have been right on time, had our server at The Old Spaghetti Factory given me the credit card receipt to sign in a more timely manner. But NOOOOOOOOO, he has to take my bill and card, along with a table of about 7 people (ALL with individual checks) to run the credit cards all at the same time, and bring them all back at the same time. 5 wasted minutes waiting for my credit card and receipt.

Nope, it hasn't been a stellar Monday................

This And That........

Well, that weekend is over....nothing really went as planned. But I guess Mom only got up once during the night last night, so hopefully that's a good sign that SOMETHING is working. But she was rather miffed AGAIN last night that 'no one goes to buy her a new rocking chair.' We had planned to go to the LaZBoy showroom just down the street from us yesterday....but she started not feeling well, after getting her makeup on. So, we didn't go. I would GLADLY go and buy her a new recliner....but how do I know what would feel good to HER? What is comfortable to me, may not be comfortable to her. Otherwise, I would have had a new recliner in here MONTHS ago.

Another vacation is coming in 2 weeks...and I plan on getting rid of a bunch of stuff that just loads my closets and cabinets down. I wish I had been on vacation this week, because our junk pick-up day is Thursday. I don't know if anyone else has this sort of thing in their area: Every few months, different neighborhoods will set all of their useless junk, tree trimmings, etc. out by the curb, and the city comes around and picks up what is left...after the scavengers have gone through it. It's actually quite funny to drive around and see all of the crap people put out in front of their curb. And like clockwork, people are driving around, stopping and sifting through all of the piles hoping to find something they can make use of, or make a dime from it. By the time the scavengers are done, there's hardly anything left for the city to pick up.

Kathy....I simply haven't had time to respond to your last email, but I'm sure you know why. But I'm still planning on us SHOPPING on the weekend of the 4th...unless you have month-end that weekend? I'm READY for some shopping....but I think I'll skip the canister set this time.....LOL!!!!

Have a good Monday everyone!

Eesh, What A Day!

Today was one of those days where there just wasn't enough hours. It started out with my brother (the one who was in Afghanistan...from here on out, he'll be refered to by name, Jimmy) and his wife came over early to bring a belated birthday card for Mom (her birthday was on the 17th), and a Fathers Day card for Dad.

They stayed for about an hour and a half, and while they were still here, their daughter and two of her boys came down from Modesto, and stopped by to bring Mom some birthday flowers.

Mom was in quite alot of pain with her arthritis, so she couldn't really enjoy the visits like she normally would.

I walked my brother and s-i-l out to see their new truck, and as they were leaving the neighbor across the street came over to ask if I wanted to see their daughter, Amy and her new baby. Amy has lived in Reno for the past few years, and has gotten married, and she had her first child in April. She and her hubby and baby were down here to help pack up her parents' house....they just sold their house, and now they are moving to Reno! Lucky bums!

So I went to see Amy and the baby for a few minutes, then came back over to our house. Everyone wondered where I had gone, so then Mom wanted me to run uptown to get Amy's baby something. But first they wanted some Krispy Kremes, so I went to get those, came back then went to go get a couple of gifts for the baby.

When I came back home, I find Mom on her bed, Dad sitting on his bed, and it turns out Mom had another heart spell. She honestly thought that she was going to be gone before I got home. But she had already taken some Nitroglycerin pills, so they were starting to help. I told her I thought she had taken too much pain medication for her arthritis while Jimmy was here, and she agreed. So that probably set her into her heart spell.

She just relaxed on the bed for awhile, and she started to feel a little better. So today didn't really go as planned....we were going to go down the street to the LaZBoy showroom to find a new chair for Mom....guess that will be on the agenda for Sunday.

After liking the song "Yeah" by Usher, ALOT, I bought his latest CD, "Confessions" Thursday during lunchtime, and I've been listening to it since then at work. And I *REALLY* like this CD! I HATE SUMMER!!

I absolutely HATE summer! It's too friggin' hot! Why can't it be a constant spring/fall type of weather? Where I am in the Central Armpit of California, it's 'fry an egg on the sidewalk' hot in the summer, and wet damp fog in the winter. Our spring and fall seasons are absolutely beautiful. So why can't it just stay like that all the time??

Wish I had some good news to talk about where Mom is concerned, but it was another painful morning. She just can't find any relief from this pain. Hopefully the new bottle of Vioxx will help. She's notorious for keeping expired prescriptions around (for 'just in case'), and it's quite possible the Vioxx she has been taking has lost it's strength. The date on the bottle said 3/14/04, but it's not beyond her to put old meds into a new bottle. Keep your fingers crossed that something will bring her some relief SOON. Thank you everyone for putting up with my venting sessions on the subject. I love ya all! :-)

Just Venting...Don't Mind Me......

Sunday was spent applying assorted 'pain relief' rubs to Mom's back every 15 to 20 minutes it seemed. She was in excruciating pain from her arthritis. Everything from FlexAll, to Joint-Ritis, Ben Gay, and Joint-Flex. Nothing seemed to help, except for the Joint-Flex....somewhat.

This evening, it was the same routine all over again....in addition to changing the top sheet on her bed that I had put on there this morning. For the past 6 months, she has had this thing about not wanting the sheet tucked all the way in, because it binds her in. But, as a result, the sheet ends up going way over her head in the night, and that drives her insane, too.

Well, if she'd LET ME TUCK THE DAMN THING IN, maybe it wouldn't go over her head! She complains about the sheet being too long...which it is. I don't understand the way sheets are made today. You hardly have anything on the side, but you've got what seems likesix extra feet of sheet lengthwise.
Hmm

SO, I took the sheet that I put on her bed this morning off, and put the one she'd been complaining about back on. Sometimes, I just can't figure her out.

And Dad thought he was "Tim The Tool Man" again Saturday....tried to put a swivel another recliner. When he thought he was finished, he sat down, reclined back and almost went head over heels backwards into the wall.... "Hmmm, well I guess that didn't work." NOOO, you don't say!! *sigh* Why do men think they can do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING???

Sorry for the rant....but sometimes I get so frustrated I want to scream!!! Screamer

That's One Pissed Off Buzzard

There seems to be a rather pissed off buzzard taking great pleasure in dive-bombing passing cyclists in England.

Having had the rather unpleasant experience of being on the 'receiving' end of a pissed bird, I can somewhat relate. We have quite a few birds that enjoy helping themselves to the dogs' dry food as much as possible....while also leaving their 'calling card' in the food.

This one bird was flying out of the enclosed portion of our patio a couple of summers ago, and I waved my hand at it to shoo it out....I SWEAR THIS HAPPENED...the damn thing lifted its body, IN FLIGHT mind you, and proceeded to take a dump on my waving hand as it flew away. The crap landed right in the middle of my palm!

That was one skillful, pissed bird..............

Arthritis Is E*V*I*L

Why can't SOMEONE SOMEWHERE find a cure for arthritis? Yes, another arthritis attack is rearing its ugly, ugly head in our household. Mom is in such pain, and I feel so helpless.

The older generation is most definitely at a disadvantage, because they didn't have the 'preventive medicine' that we now have today. I am taking a Calcium-Magnesium-Zinc tablet each day to help prevent suffering later down the road.

I'm hoping Mom will make an appt. with her orthopedist next week to see if he can suggest anything to help manage this horrible pain.

On another note....I'm kind of glad I will be at work today, and not watching the funeral for President Reagan. I'm emotionally drained right now, and watching it would just add on to it. Since I'm on the West Coast, if there is any sort of service during the sunset burial, I'll watch that this evening.

Keep your fingers crossed that Starbucks gets my coffee order right this morning! Teethy

As If THAT Wasn't Enough........

......... my Starbucks order was screwed up YET AGAIN this morning. I figured I deserved an extra White Choc. Mocha this morning after the day I had yesterday. While the gentleman taking my order was very nice, he was SO intent on trying to remember my name, that he completely screwed up my order.

I got to work and discovered he gave me a regular Mocha, instead of WCM.

In addition to that, because the Mocha was so strong, I ended up getting the runs about an hour later. GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

What A Waste Of 3.5 Hours

What a total waste of my time. This 'meeting' that we had yesterday at work turned into a 'lets all talk at once' festival. This meeting was ordered by management, but yet they weren't there. They gave a list of things to be 'brought to our attention' to our 2 Shop Stewards to be presented to us about issues THEY (management) had with us.

What was supposed to be a meeting until about 10 am, lasted from 8:45 until noon, because everyone wanted to get their thoughts in about what management was saying....all talking at the same time. Maybe if people DID THEIR WORK, there wouldn't be a problem. *sigh*

More drama at home last night....I won't get into it here, but it's so damned hard sometimes living with aging parents, who just about hate one another. It's also hard to live sometimes with a mother who complains about all of the chairs hurting her back, but making no effort to rectify the problem by buying a new chair. To hear her talk, you'd think we were scraping for every penny, which I know isn't the case. She'll think nothing of spending $800.00 on a dog (as we did with Chaz...RIP), but to spend $600.00 on a chair for herself is unthinkable.
Shock 3

Oh well.........

Who Do YOU Look Like?

Found this on Traci's blog again. Girl, I don't know where you find this stuff! Ummm

But evidently I look like Courtney Cox (yeah, right...SURRRRRE I do), Cher (um....huh?), and some other chick named Isabelle Adjani....I do see the resemblence a little more there than with Courtney or Cher.

But give it a try!

It Wasn't So Bad

Well, the first day back to work wasn't so bad. But I hate that feeling you get when you first start diving back into your work....I was like: "Where do I start?" I had 48 emails to wade through, then the server for the main program I work in was down for a short period of time; just getting back into the swing is hard sometimes.

But it's a new day, and I'm ready.

It was so sad to see the highlights of the Reagan ceremony. When Nancy put her cheek on the casket....I lost it. I guess because I know that I will be going through that same thing when my parents go. I just pray that it doesn't happen for quite awhile from now.

Interesting meeting we're having tomorrow. I'm assuming that we're going to address some of the issues we have in the office. If so, I'm bringing up the issue of LACK OF QUALITY TRAINING. I still haven't had adequate training in a new program that is now a required element of my job. Now, I like to consider myself a smart cookie, but I really need more than just a 5 minute fly-by training. So you can bet that I'm bringing that up tomorrow!

Have a great Tuesday, my friends!

Back To Work Monday

....And I couldn't be happier! Staying around the house for a week drives me FRIGGIN' NUTS! It's been a hell of a weekend, emotionally....I won't get into it here, but it's been one rollercoaster after another. Bruce and Kathy, I'm sure you can take a wild guess as to what I'm talking about. So I'm GLAD to go back to work.

R.I.P President Reagan

Former President Ronald Reagan passed away today at the age of 93, the oldest living United States President ever. While I'm not a Republican, I always thought he did a good job as President. I greatly admired his sense of humor, and his wit.

He is now free of the ravages of Alzheimers Disease. RIP Ronnie.

Agenda For Next Vacation

THROW CRAP AWAY!!!! I tackled the desk in my bedroom this morning/afternoon. DAMN, I collect alot of crap! Receipts, pamphlets from trips past, even hotel checkout slips from Reno.

So, I now have an agenda for July's vacation....throw away, shred, discard stuff that I really don't need. Hell, if I ever moved, it would take me a friggin' year just to go through all of the stuff I shove into my various desks!

And the next time the Disabled Vets truck comes around, they are going to get an AMPLE supply of old clothes. Clothes that I still have from my college days back in the early 80's. I just hang onto them, and hang onto them.... mainly because Mom comes through and says, "That's too nice to throw away." Yeah, maybe so, but I'm not quite 108 pounds anymore either, Mom.

Although, I got two different warning labels for my name....this one is with the first letter of my name capitalized...the second warning for my name when I typed with all lower-case letters said I was a radioactive squirrel. Shock 3

I think that may be more appropriate for Julie H's blog, given the name of her blog.

The Only Luck........

.....I had today during our gambling excursion to Table Mountain was finding a $20.00 ticket that someone had walked off and forgotten.... it was sticking out of the ticket slot on the dollar poker machine next to the one I was playing. No one had been playing that machine since I walked up, and I was playing for about 5 minutes, so into my pocket it went.
Slot Machine

Other than that, I walked in with $180.00, and walked out with $60.00. So not a good day on The Mountain. But it was good to get out of the house for a few hours, though.

So, another vacation has ended (except for the weekend). I have another scheduled for around the 4th of July, so I'll probably go check out the Southwest Pacific Regional Roller Skating Championships downtown, and relive my glory years.

Almost The End

It's almost the end of my vacation time, and quite frankly, I'll be GLAD to get back to work. But, it has been a somewhat productive vacation.

* I did clean up the computer room some....it could still use some more cleaning, though. Too many papers just stacked up, and I'm such a pack-rat...I hate to throw anything away.

* I didn't need the oil change after all. I had it changed in Feb., and my digital gauge says I'm only at 79%, so the guy at Kitahara Pontiac said I could wait until July (my next vacation).

* I did get to spend quality time with Kathy, so that's ALWAYS good.

But, I do miss my work, and my friends at work. Next Wednesday should be VERY INTERESTING, as a mandatory meeting has been called by our managers, and our Union Shop Stewards. Don't know what this will be about, but it should DEFinitely be interesting.

Catch everyone later.........

Where To Start First

Man, have you ever had the intention of tackling the mess that is called your computer room to try to clean it up a bit? That's the project I'm attempting to do today. And I haven't a friggin' clue where to start.

So many cords coming from my computer....so many papers on my desk.... so many unnecessary papers that I've thrown into the desk....uggh. Overwhelming..........

Thank You

Thank you, everyone for the condolences on the loss of Chaz. We had a better day today, so things are returning to 'normal.' I have some of the greatest cyber buddies in the world!
I Love You

Why oh why is it so frickin' hard to find a rocker/recliner with a swivel?? Mom is in DESPERATE need of a new rocker/recliner, but:
A) Almost every one we looked at today doesn't have a swivel
B) Almost every one is so friggin HUGE, it swallows her up when she sits down! "Overstuffed" is putting it mildly.

Dad has pretty much ruined every rocker we had in the house, because he seems to think he's Carpenter Jim, and he has screwed up every chair he's tried to modify. Why do men think they can do ANYTHING??? And then they get pissed when you don't shower them with gratitude and compliments on what they've done. *sigh*

So far, the vacation has been a busy one. Tomorrow, I'll have to try to get to the DMV to get my license renewal, and maybe take my car for that oil change. Just seems like there's never enough hours in the day.
